Cobrinha began his BJJ training in Sao Carlos under Mauro Pacifico but one day, after watching one of his matches, the most respected champion of the day,
Fernando "Terere" Augusto, asked Cobrinha to train at his academy. He gave the offer much thought and after dicussing it with his teacher, family, and friends Cobrinha made the move to
Sao Paulo as a brown belt. Cobrinha trained with Terere full-time and recieved daily two-hour private lessons. He earned his black belt in only five years - five very intense years.
Cobrinha also has a back-ground in Capoeira, whose influence you can see in his BJJ style, and has almost achieved master level.
Cobrinha joined the Alliance Team in Brazil after Team Terere disbanded and has been an influential force for the Alliance ever since.
His technique is flawless with extraordinary power for a 155 pounder. He will "wow you" with his unique style, flexibility, speed, endurance,
and ability to transistion from any position (you move one way to counter him and he will have at least five different moves to counter your counter).
In the 2007 Mundials, he had no points scored against him in five matches and defeated a previous Mundial Champion, Mario Reis.
His professionalism as an athelete, world-class skill level, love of Jiu-Jitsu, and his humble demeanor makes
Cobrinha a pleasure to train with and learn from. You can see he has had a tremendous impact on the school just in the short time he has been here.
Everyone is improving and trying new things.
If you want to see the true potential of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, then you shouldn't miss this opportunity. You will be amazed.
